Boruch Hashem, their endeavors yielded fruit, and in the last few
years, the number of visitors to the site has increased. At this time,
the askanim intend to build on their previous success, by constructing
a magnificent building, which will serve as a hospitality center with a complete
beis medrash, study hall, special viewing room for kohanim, a luxurious
mikvah, and of course, bedrooms. All this will serve the thousands of pilgrims
who travel to the holy site on the anniversary date and throughout the year.
I therefore make this heartfelt appeal for you to assist the askanim financially and in whatever other way possible, so that the building and other related projects may be completed at the earliest opportunity. I am convinced that the great z'chus of Rabeinu HaShach will stand by all the supporters of this project, in all matters, and that they will see merit HKBH's help in all their endeavors, until finally we will merit the coming of the Moshiach and the building of the third Beis Hamikdash speedily in our days. Amein.
The holiness of Rabeinu Hashach is beyond our comprehension, the foundation of the Halacha of Klal Yisroel throughout the generations. His resting place in Helisho was desolate for about 80 years, until we merited the his descendants undertook the task renovating it and establishing a place of prayer and salvation. Indeed, many have seen yeshuos in the merit of this holy tzaddik, thru their prayers at the site, which made an impression on the Heavens.
These noble askanim have initiated the construction of a place both worthy of the visitors and reverential of the deceased, a place where guests will have accommodations, access to a Mikvah and a Beis Medrash, with all appurtenances necessary to be able to beseech Hashem at the holy site.
The immensity of Rabeinu HaShach's holiness is above human
comprehension; we simply cannot understand or describe it.
In all generations Rabeinu HaShach's works on Yoreh Deah and others,
have constituted definitive rulings on halacha according to which we live
on a daily basis.
To our great regret, for close to 80 years since the end of World War II, the tzion of
Rabeinu Shabsi HaKohen – the Shach, may his merit protect us – was desolate and neglected. By the grace of Hashem, notable askanim who are descendants of Rabeinu HaShach, took it upon themselves to restore the site to its former glory. With much toil, they enabled tens of thousands of Jews from all over the world, to visit the gravesite, and thereby to achieve salvation from a variety of issues.
